Lower Sac: , by Andrew Harris: Victory at Sea: 3 stars Today was one of the windiest days I've ever experienced while fishing. Top 5. I took my clients Dave and Steve out in the jet boat since it would have been impossible to hold a drift in the drift boat. We waded some prime riffles in the Anderson/Cottonwood area. Needless to say, we had the river to ourselves. We spent the morning swinging flies with 4wt spey rods. That wasn't red hot, but Steve landed a nice 14" rainbow. After lunch we had our best fishing. There was a thick hatch of baetis mixed with some larger PMDs. Despite the 20mph winds and occasional gusts up to 30+mph, we were able to find a spot where the fish were chowing dries. Dave landed a beautiful 16" rainbow and several other fish on dries. We also hooked quite a few on nymphs. On a cold, windy day, the window of opportunity is brief and we definitely made the most of it!
