The most scenic parts of the Lower Sac are just upstream from Red Bluff.

Red Bluff is right in the middle of northern California's best trout fishing destinations. The famous Lower Sacramento River flows right through town and provides year-round angling opportunities for trout, steelhead, salmon, shad, and stripers. An hour's drive to the east gets you to Lassen Volcanic National Park and the Lake Almanor area. Redding is just 30 minutes north on I-5.

Red Bluff offers year-round fly fishing opportunites. Prime-time for trout-spey is September/October. There is great nymph/indicator fishing for rainbow trout near Red Bluff year-round. Salmon fishing is busy from August through October. Shad are in the river in June and July and the striper action is best during the hot months.

By Car: Red Bluff is right on I-5 about 2 hours north of Sacramento and 2.5 hours south of the Oregon border. From the Bay Area, take 80 to 505 to 5 for a drive time of 3 hours.
