Trinity River: , by Andrew Harris: 4 stars You can catch some nice steelhead on the Trinity River right now if you can get away from the crowds. There were a ton of boats out today but we managed to stay away from most of them and were able to find some fish. Steve and Dana from Chico had their best Trinity outing in several seasons. Regular trout nymphs are working the best right now. Be careful with store-bought trout nymphs - some of the hooks bend out pretty easily. Or even break right off at the bend. If you want to stack the deck on your favor you should tie your own nymphs on heavy wire hooks. 5 pound fish and cheap size 14 hooks are not a good combination.
