Ashland, Medford & Grants Pass, Oregon

The Rogue River carves its way through the Rogue River Valley, flowing through the cities of Shady Cove, Medford and Grants Pass. The vibrant arts community of Ashland is just 15 minutes down the road. Anglers visiting this area enjoy steelhead fishing from August through April on the Rogue River. The Applegate River, a tributary to the Rogue, offers steelhead opportunities during the month of March. A short 90 minute drive east puts you in the Klamath Basin where you can experience quality wild trout fishing on the spring-fed Wood and Williamson Rivers.

Best Times to Come

Steelheading is available on the Upper Rogue River from August through April, with the absolute prime months being September-November and February-March. The nearby Applegate River has a very short steelhead season in the month of March. Over the hill, the Klamath Basin is best from June through September.

Traveling to Southern Oregon

By Car: Ashland, Medford and Grants Pass are all right on I-5.

By Air: The Rogue Valley International–Medford Airport (MFR) has daily flights on Horizon Air to Portland, Seattle/Tacoma, and Los Angeles. Skywest Airlines, operated as United Express, has daily flights to Denver and San Francisco. Delta Connection has daily flights to Salt Lake City.
