Sacramento, California
There is great fishing to be had in and around our state capitol of Sacramento!
The American River offers year-round fishing for multiple species. Trout and steelhead are available fall through spring.
Shad fishing is incredibly popular and productive from April through June. Mid-summer is striper time, when a good cast in the right spot can yield a fish over ten pounds.
Two other great fisheries, the Yuba River and Feather River, offer more great fishing just about an hour to the north of Sacramento.
Prime-time for steelhead on the Feather River is October/November and again March-May.
The Yuba River is a year-round wild trout destination where nymphs, dry flies, and swung flies can all produce.
Sacramento is also just an hour from the California Delta which has excellent fly fishing for stripers, smallies, and largemouth bass.
