Lower Sac: , by Luke Geraty: LOTS of yellow stone flies!: 3 stars The flows on the Lower Sac are currently just a smidge over 7,000cfs and looking really good. For the past few weeks there have been a lot of yellow stone flies throughout the day, one of my favorite bugs to fish with! There are a lot of nymph options to use and some of my favorites are the UV Sallys, Biot Stones, Poxybacks, Iron Sallys, Rubber Legs (OF COURSE!!!), and yellow Psycho Princes. For dry flies there are lots of options too, but on our float we didn't see many fish eating on the surface until the end of the day. But that's what makes fishing on the Lower Sac in the summer a lot of fun -- you have over fourteen hours of sunlight to choose from! We can get creative with our floats and do double floats (one in the morning, one in the later afternoon / evening)... so many options! But that's what living in northern California brings -- options, options, and more options! And while many don't do much walk and wading on the Lower Sac in the summer due to the higher flows, I must say that there are plenty of places you can get out and fish if you want to and the rewards can be well worth it! I've got open dates on some of our walk and wade rivers as well as for the drift boat, so if you're looking for a way to enjoy the summer, hit me up! And you'll also find me exploring water from Red Bluff down looking for some of them notorious river monsters aka stripers. Get out and fish! Cyril with a fish caught LITERALLY on the first cast. Sean's first cast onto a ledge got his line tight! Next 10 open days for Luke Geraty: Nov 22, 26, Dec 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, 18, 19, 20 |
