Lower Sac: , by Luke Geraty: Posse Ground is OPEN!!: 4 stars

Been awhile since I had a chance to write a river report. What with all the traveling I've been doing and being exhausted at the end of days due to the heat, it's been long over due! In addition to fishing in Minnesota for smallmouth bass (and catching nine billion of them), I've been on the McCloud, Upper Sac, Trinity, and my bread and butter, the Lower Sac. First things first... the Trinity was really fun and we caught a fair amount of half-pounders as well as hooking a few adults. The Trinity will only get better, so put a date on the books with me. The Upper Sac and McCloud have fished great and despite the smoke, my trips up there have been really fun. So how's the Lower Sac, you ask? It's picking up! We hooked and landed a bunch of fish today in the famed "upper section" (of the Lower Sac) as the river above Hwy 44 opened up. I've also see a few salmon on drifts here and there and, correspondingly, have caught fish on eggs. I mean... why not? Also done well on your usual suspects (rubber legs and caddis and top-secret-you-have-to-be-in-my-boat-to-know flies). Overall the river is fish good to great and the while the heat continues to fire off on all cylinders, the fishing is also picking up with each passing day! Anyway... here are a few pictures from some recent trips... hope you enjoy!
