Tony made the right call to come up last Saturday and fish the Trinity. Flows had dropped back to their winter release levels, but the recent rains would have gotten some fish on the move. As the sun was rising behind the frosty fog that stayed with us most of the day, Tony got to work. Before the raft was in the water, about five casts in, Tony’s face and rod had nice bends. It was the only fish of the day, but a beautiful one at that. You never know when the reel is going to sing, but smiles come easy on the river. Happy Holidays.
