Feather River: , by Ben Thompson: January Steelhead: 3 stars I had a good guide trip today on the Feather for steelhead. Water clarity is't too bad, we got fish to eat bugs as small as size 16s. Saw some salmon spawning and got into some quality fish. Fish were primarily eating mayflies and eggs. With the worst of the storms being over, the Feather is still fishing and will continue to throughout the next week. In the next week to week and a half the Lower Yuba and the Lower Sac should be clearing up and fishing well also. Once the Yuba clears up we will be chasing the skwala hatch over there. February on the Yuba can provide good nymphing for trout and steelhead in the morning with dry fly fishing in midday-afternoon when the hatch starts. The water coming down is a good thing and should provide good fishing over the coming months and throughout spring on all of our valley river fisheries. Next 10 open days for Ben Thompson: Dec 1, 2, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18 |
