Trinity River: , by Luke Geraty: Banner day on the Trinity! : 4 stars Flows? Perfect. Water color? Steelhead green. Hook sets? Free. Temperature? Above freezing-your-face-off. Yesterday I spent the day on a two boat float down the Trinity river with fellow Confluence guide DJ Spivey with some regulars and we had a banner of a day. If steelheading had a "perfect" day, it would be hard to argue that we didn't have it.
It's amazing how the water color can affect the fishing in such tremendous ways, but with steelheading, the color surely makes a difference. Usually we are working with gin clear conditions but all of this rain has definitely caused the river to be in stellar shape and the Red Bluff boys got to experience her in all her glory.
We didn't land all of 'em, but we did land some nice ones. Matt was a birthday boy, so his gifts came in packages sized 25+ inches! Yowzers!
It's a good time to get out and the Trin should fish well for a bit longer, so I'd definitely recommend getting out there. Let's go! Next 10 open days for Luke Geraty: Nov 22, 26, Dec 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, 18, 19, 20 |
